El Nino starts to ruin farmlands

February 22, 2010

It’s not an editorial… just a simple talking.

An intense heat is starting to dry the vast farmlands in the Philippines. It is not surprising at all. Such phenomena is normal. It is thought to occur due to changes in the normal patterns of trade wind circulation. It happens not only here in our country but also throughout the world.

It’s not about natural wind circulation or what have you, why such phenomena is no more a surprise for me. I consider the exploitation of our country’s environment is one of its factor.

Sad to say, the abuse against mother nature is rampant. Though we have DENR and whatsoever agencies that are responsible for environmental protection still the abuse becomes more massive.

Not surprising at all. Oligarchs who used to exploit our natural resources are given special protection. The protection for nature was then shifted for the best interests of these elites.

Government and other organization would not irk then because they are benefited. Paid. Bribed! Call me judgmental if you want, but I have seen the exploitation. i have seen how they brought hazard. And I can feel the difference.

Well, I don’t think so that it is only me who experiences the changes. The majority feels the same way. No wonder why almost were alarmed of these phenomena. No wonder why many are now in trouble. No wonder.

Not surprising! We’re just starting to witness the consequences of the act of abusing. Let us all remember that nature is our life. It’s our life support system.
If we’ll continue to destroy it, then at the end of the day, we’ll be the one who would probably suffer.

Wake up Filipinos!
